I’m Dr. Stephanie Neal, LICSW-S, PIP, a licensed clinical social worker, educator, mental health advocate, and owner of Love Out Loud Counseling & Consulting Services. Mental health is more than my profession—it is my passion and an important part of how I serve individuals, families, and my community.

I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology, a Master of Social Work from The University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. My professional background includes counseling, child welfare, clinical consultation and supervision, crisis intervention, and working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. My approach incorporates evidence-based interventions tailored to each client’s unique experiences, strengths, needs, and goals. I am also a Certified Anger Management Specialist, Certified Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) Professional, and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist.

Beyond my clinical practice, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at Miles College in the Departments of Psychology and Social Work, where I have the privilege of educating and encouraging future helping professionals. I am also the Birmingham Chapter President of Female Leaders in Ministry and the Marketplace (FLIM) and Co-Director of the Mental Health Professionals Alliance for the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) International Department of Women. These roles allow me to combine my passion for mental health, education, faith, leadership, and community service.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to helping people heal, strengthening families, educating future professionals, and making quality mental health care more accessible, compassionate, and meaningful.

Outside of my professional roles, I am a wife and proud mother of three beautiful children. Family is an important part of who I am and helps keep me grounded in the midst of the many roles I am blessed to serve in. I also enjoy fishing, interior decorating, and musical theater. I love both attending performances and being on stage, and I had the wonderful opportunity to perform in Red Mountain Theatre’s 2024 production of The Color Purple.

I am grateful that my journey allows me to serve as a clinician, educator, leader, advocate, creative, wife, mother, and woman of faith while using my gifts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Cassandra R. Brown is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW-S) and Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist with over 20 years of experience in mental health and social services. She earned her Master of Social Work from Alabama A&M University and has since established herself as a skilled therapist and effective leader in 

Cassandra R. Brown is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW-S) and Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist with over 20 years of experience in mental health and social services. She earned her Master of Social Work from Alabama A&M University and has since established herself as a skilled therapist and effective leader in both healthcare and community service settings.

Currently, Cassandra serves as Lead Therapist at Love Out Loud Counseling and Consulting Services, where she provides individualized, outcome-focused treatment to clients of all ages, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Strength-Based therapies. She also works as Lead Social Worker at Brookwood Baptist Health, where she specializes in geriatrics, overseeing complex discharge planning, crisis intervention, and case management for older adult patients. In both positions, she offers clinical supervision, supporting and guiding other social work professionals.

Throughout her career, Cassandra has shown a strong commitment to community engagement and advocacy, with extensive experience collaborating with government and community agencies. Her volunteer leadership includes active involvement with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and as Charter Member and President of the Birmingham Metropolitan section.

I am currently pursing my Doctorate in Infant and Early Childhood Development with an Emphasis in Mental

 I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Alabama and my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an Emphasis in Children and Adolescence Disorders from Grand Canyon University. I am currently pursing my Doctorate in Infant and Early Childhood Development with an Emphasis in Mental Health and Neurodiversity at Fielding University. I am currently an Associate Licensed Counselor who specializes in the children and adolescent population. However, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with all age groups. My theoretical orientation of choice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which emphasizes the concept that human emotions and behavior revolve around the way we perceive our individual situations. I approach counseling with empathy, understanding, and honesty to provide a safe space to offer support and gentle challenging when necessary. My goal is to facilitate clients in exploring their own abilities and strengths throughout the therapeutic process and to provide tools to help them face any challenge that arises with confidence.
